www.medical-trip.com A leading surgeon in stem cell transplantation talks about his education and experience in this video. Basically from Gujarat state of India, he divided his time between England and Germany to get training in orthopedics and spinal surgery. He received many fellowships from America, Australia, and Switzerland. He is widely travelled for training too. During his fellowship, he published two papers, one on spinal canal stenosis and other on genetic correction in scoliosis. His services can be availed in spinal surgeries, joints replacements, revision joints surgeries, revision spinal surgery, correction of deformity etc. According to the surgeon, there are 3000-15000 cases worldwide, which are treated with stem cell transplantation for spinal fusion and avascular necrosis, etc. The surgeon, furthermore, discusses the procedure of stem cell therapy by using mesenchymal stem cells. They are isolated from patient’s iliac crest and after few measures, injected into the site where fusion is required. There is no fear of reaction in this procedure as doctors use patient’s own stem cells. This technique is considered better than other procedures. In bone graft surgeon, the patients have to endure lot of pain. Therefore, doctors consider this technique safer comparatively. There is another technique too, that of Bone Morphogenic protein, known as BMP. But as it is very expensive, few people opt for it. Please click on the link mentioned below for more …

Low Cost Bone Marrow Transplant Surgery in India: International Quality Patient Care
Bone marrow transplant surgery in India costs very low when compared with US and Europe. This is because the infrastructure costs are lower than in UK and Europe. It is said that the low cost makes the quality worst but it is totally wrong with India. India is giving world class treatment to the international patients and it is reflected by the increased number of surgeries here. Not only this but the hospitals here are JCI accredited and the surgeons are well trained from US and Europe. Everyone just fears from surgeries but the growing concept of medical tourism i.e. surgery along with holiday is making their fear go out. They are now enjoying their surgeries. Also the international patients are getting friendly atmosphere here as they are in their natives. Bone marrow is a soft, spongy tissue found inside the bones. It produces RBC’s, WBC’s and platelets. So, it is a vital part of human body. So, if the bone marrow’s functioning is not proper then it is very dangerous for a patient. So, the bone marrow transplant surgery in India is giving new life to international patients.
What is bone marrow?
The bone marrow is a soft, spongy tissue found inside the bones. The bone marrow in the hips, breast bone, spine, ribs, and skull contain cells that produce the body’s blood cells. The bone marrow is responsible for the development and storage of about 95% of the body’s blood cells. The three main types of blood cells produced in the bone marrow include: red blood cells(erythrocytes)- carry oxygen to the tissues in the body
Procedure of bone marrow transplant surgery:
There are three types of bone marrow transplant surgery-
Autologous bone marrow transplant: The donor is the child him/herself. Stem cells are taken from the child either by bone marrow harvest or apheresis.
Allogenic bone marrow transplant: The donor shares the same genetic type as the child. Stem cells are taken either by bone marrow harvestor apheresis from a genetically matched donor, usually a brother or sister.
Umbilical cord blood transplant: Stem cells are taken from an umbilical cord immediately after delivery of an infant. These stem cells reproduce into mature, functioning blood cells quicker and more effectively than do stem cells taken from the bone marrow of another child or adult. The stem cells are tested, typed, counted, and frozen until they are ready to be transplanted.Because the stem cells are “new,” they are able to produce more blood cells from each stem cell. Another advantage cord blood has is that the T-lymphocytes (part of the immune system that causes graft-versus-host disease) are not completely functional this early in the stage of life. Recipients of cord blood transplants have a decrease risk for severe graft-versus-host disease.
