among the collateral likely benefits of a stemcell research project will be the capacity to build a ‘reaper’ virus: a virus which will fix on a specific genome marker and infect (and kill) only people carrying this dna segment. a reaper virus targeted at dna more common among americans (or among white americans, or even among americans of germanic origin) could decimate america’s population, while leaving the country which released it untouched.
